"NO!" You cried out as you jumped over Germany's unconcious form on your hands and knees, shielding him with your body. -WHACK!- Russia's pipe collided with your back with enough force to knock a bit of the wind out of you. You tried not to scream, but a gasp managed to escape from your lips. To take your mind off the pain you opened your eyes (you hadn't realized they were closed) and peered down at Germany's face. His usually slicked back blonde hair was messy and matted with blood in some places. He had a large bruise that was beginning to swell on the left side of his head between his ear and his eye. His jacket was missing, and he had cuts that you could see through the holes in his black shirt. -BAM!- Russia hit you again.
"You will move now, da (Name)?" Russia asked in that creepily child-like voice of his.
"No, I won't let you hurt him!" You roared back, shaking your head back and forth without turning around. Russia held his pipe above his head again, ready to strike. "Then I will make you move!" With that he cracked the pipe across your back again, sending pain through out your whole body. You knew you wouldn't be able to take many more hits like that. "Please Germany, wake up! We need you!" You whispered through clenched teeth. Begging for the blonde to save the three of you. You looked over at your other allies. Japan lay sprawled out on the ground with a bump on his head similar to Germany's, his katana a few feet away. Italy was still concious, but Russia had put a huge rock on his foot that he would not be getting out of any time soon. -BANG!- More pain shot through your body, and this time you shrieked. You couldn't help it! Despite all the hard training that Germany had given you, you couldn't protect your friends. Russia relentlessly pounded away at your back, until your knees finally gave out. You were still holding yourself up over Germany's motionless form by your arms. -WHAM!- The strongest blow yet brought you crashing down so that you were laying on Germany's chest. "Now will you move little one?" Russia asked. In a weak pain filled voice you replied "I will never let you hurt him Russia. I will die before I let you hit him again."
"Fine." Was Russia's cold response. He raised the pipe above his head one last time, ready to make the final blow. He was lining it up with your head, you could tell. "Goodbye Ludwig. I love you." You whispered as the pipe came crashing towards your head. You closed your eyes and screamed while you waited for the impact
but it never came. You opened your eyes to slits to find Germany, finally awake, holding Russia's pipe in his gloved hand. He looked at you with concern. "I'm sorry (Name), you got hurt because of me." Then he glared at Russia, and you could practically see the murder in his blue orbs. "Russia, jou vill pay for making (Name) scream like zhat." For the first time since the fight had started, Russia looked afraid. He yanked his pipe out of Germany's grasp and backed up a few steps. Germany carefully rolled you off of him and onto the ground. He stood up a bit whoozily at first, but quickly regained his balance. He looked down at you, Japan, and Italy, then back at Russia. "Russia, I cannot forgive you for hurting meine friends, especially miene liebe." You watched as the German charged at a bewildered looking Russia, one fist raised over his head to strike down his enemy. Russia in turn, had raised his pipe in a defensive position in front of him. You tried to stay awake, to keep watching. To make sure that Germany would win. The lat thing you saw before the world faded to black was Germany throwing away Russia's pipe with one hand and punching him in the stomach with the other.
-Three Days Later-
You woke up in a bed in Germany's house. You were wrapped up like a mummy in bandages all the way around your torso. You looked around for a moment trying to remember how you had gotten there. The last thing you remembered was blacking out right before Germany
Germany! Where is he?! Is he okay?! You thought worriedly. You tried to sit up to go find him, but you found that this only brought on a sensation like Sweden using your back as a practice target and quickly collapsed back onto the bed with a loud moan. Italy apparently heard you and came bursting in.
"(Name)! You're finally awake! We were all so-a s-scared because you've-a been asleep for three d-days and Russia was hitting-a you so hard a-and..." The small Italian man burst into tears. You gently held his hand and pulled him down for a hug (since you still couldn't sit up) "Shhh, it's alright Italy. I'm fine now see? Now come on, no more crying." You repeated over and over while petting his head until he was finally coherent enough to speak. "Germany was-a really worried too. I'll go-a tell him your awake since-a Japan just went back to sleep ve~!" Italy replied, back to his overly cheerful self in seconds as he sprinted from your room. A few minutes later you heard Ludwig's heavy footsteps as he ran up the stairs. He slowed down when he made it to your floor though. "(Name)!" Germany cried out as he walked into the room.
"Germany! Germany! (Name) is awake!" Italy came in screaming, making my head pound.
"Ugh... Italy, please don't yell... Now vhat iz vrong?"
"(Name) woke up!" He restated, more quietly this time.
"She is?" I replied in slight shock. He nodded and jumped out of the way as I bolted up the stairs to her room. I got light headed about half way up but I ignored it until I got to her floor and slowed down. "(Name)!" I cried as I walked into her room. My head was hurting so much at this point that my yelling wasn't really helping, so I leaned against the door frame holding my head again.
"Germany, are you alright?!" (Name) asked me in that concerned and quiet voice of hers that I so loved.
"Ja... I'm fine (Name)..." I replied, straightening up and walking to her bed. I looked at her, wrapped up in bandages. She looked as fragile as a snowflake. I carefully sat down next to her on the bed. I looked to the floor with a sad smile on my face unable to look at her knowing that she suffered through that because of me. "I'm glad zhat you are okay (Name). I vas so vorried about you." I looked up at her again with tears welling up in the corners of my eyes. "Vhy vould you do zhat (Name)? Vhy vould you risk your life just to protect me?" I didn't want to cry, but I couldn't stop myself... A world without (Name) would be worse than a world without sunshine.
"Because, I don't want to see you get hurt Germany." Was her quiet reply.
"Because, I don't want to see you get hurt Germany." You replied as quietly as you could. He looked pale, his head was wrapped in thick bandages with a slight pinkish stain showing through on one part. You could tell when he walked in that yelling hurt his head. You tried to sit up again when you noticed that he was starting to cry. You sat up quickly, letting out a low hiss and quickly pulled the blonde into a hug.
"Germany, why are you crying?" You whispered into his ear once you got over the stinging in your back.
"I thought I was going to lose you (Name)" He sniffled into your shoulder, wrapping his arms around you as tightly as he could without hurting you and closing his eyes.
"Please (Name), please don't scare me like zhat again." Germany said as his body was racked with sobs. It was heart breaking to see him like this.
"Germany, do you remember what I said to you right before you woke up?"
He stopped mid-sob and then pulled back to look at you with his hands on your shoulders. He closed his eyes and furrowed his brow in concentration, trying to remember. Then his eyes popped open. "Do you remember?" You asked. He only stared at you for a second before he crushed his lips to yours in a surprise kiss. As you were falling backwards he seemed to remember that you had hurt your back and quickly switched positions with you so that you were once again laying on his strong chest without breaking the kiss. Your eyes were open wide in shock for a second, but then you quickly relaxed into him. Letting yourself melt like chocolate into his kiss. Germany's kiss was sweet and tender, not exactly what you had expected from the militaristic nation. You had thought that like him, his kiss would be strong and precise. How wrong you were. There was a lingering taste of beer on his lips, and somehow it made his kiss even sweeter. You two had quickly run out of air and you were now both panting, Germany looked a bit dazed underneath you, and you couldn't tell if it was because of what he had just done or because of his injury, or both. You were enjoying the light-headed feeling that the German had given you. Not the harsh blackening that you had recieved because of Russia's pipe, but a gentle sort of cushioning on your mind. You smiled and laid your head down on his chest, still breathing like a dog on a hot day. Germany closed his eyes, and a few minutes later, his breathing seemed to even out. You looked up and realised that he was asleep. The peaceful expression on his face made him look even more adorable with his mouth hanging slightly open. You gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and with a smile settled down ontop of the German to sleep a bit longer.
